The reduced size of the tags, the long battery life and the reduced cost in relation to GPS-tags opens up a range of opportunities for tracking small to large fauna present in this type of vegetation. This approach to wildlife tracking facilitates the use of drones by non-specialists and at an affordable cost for conservation projects with limited resources. The spatial accuracy obtained by the system was 14.61 m, being significantly more accurate in savanna areas (x̄ = 10.53) than in forest areas (x̄ = 13.06). Considering the moving tests (N = 20) the detection rates were 90% in the savanna and 30% in the forest areas. From 40 tracking flights carried out in the Cerrado biome, we obtained a detection rate of 90% in savanna and 40% in forest areas.
SDR RECEIVER RADIO MODULE SOFTWARE
The self-contained tracking system was built without the need for hardware or software customization. We present the system configuration, explore the operational parameters that can affect detection capabilities, and test the effectiveness of the system in locating targets by simulating target animals in savanna and forest environments.
SDR RECEIVER RADIO MODULE BLUETOOTH
We explore the potential of wildlife tracking with drones by using a system consisting of a multirotor drone, smartphones, and commercial tracking devices via Bluetooth and Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) off-the-shelf that is easy to use by non-specialists. We will be happy to advise you on your choice. In recent years, drones are increasingly used for fauna monitoring and wildlife tracking however, the application of drones for tracking wildlife is restricted to those users with the technical capacity to develop such systems. And do not forget about antennas and amplifiers to round up your setup. We carry the major brands like Yaesu, ICOM, Kenwood as well as the SDR specialists Expert Electronics, Flexradio, Elad and the small affordable SDR receivers from Airspy. This is reflected in a wide range of receivers and transceivers which we offer. Over the years, WiMo has built up a great deal of expertise in the field of software defined radios for ham as well as commercial uses.
This results in performance data that used to be almost unattainable in the analogue world. The SDR-based transceivers or simply SDR radios offered in amateur radio usually offer an exciting mix of classical techniques such as a superheterodyne mixer in combination with fast digital technology.
And quite often radio amateurs have been significantly involved in the development of SDR technology. This is why the SDR principle has also been the state of the art for commercial services and the military sector for many years. This flexibility cannot be offered by classical radio technology. All further processing then takes place computationally - with impressive results!īy using different programs (software), a relatively simple hardware can be used for an enormous number of different applications - even after a device is deployed in the field. The principle of SDR is simple: The received analog radio signal is converted into digital data as quickly as possible, often directly behind the antenna. SDR - Software Defined Radio - no term characterizes the change in radio technology than this one.
