I guess having hot flashes could be a factor, but you are pretty young for that to be an issue I'd think.

I wish everyone pain free and virus free days. It makes me realize that we are all together a community of people who lean on each other. And I often feel so inadequate when I see some of the hard times that others go through. Coming here where I know I won't be judged is in itself a relief. I never get angry with the well meaning people who try to help with that sort of advice, because I know that they mean well, they just don't understand how bad it really is. And it helps me to shrug off the well meaning people who tell me, " Just take 3 aspirin, and a strong cup of coffee, put a cold cloth over your eyes, for an hour, and your migraine will be gone." I have to say, if that makes your headache go away, it was not a true migraine. Sometimes, just knowing that I am not alone, and that others would understand what I feel, is enough encouragement to help me get through the tough times. I still get bogged down with the strength and soul sapping drain that can be migraine disease. I am glad that I stumbled across this website, as it is a place of both information and encouragement, which even for a person like me, a man nearing 60, who has had migraines my entire adult life, can use.

The more I read of other peoples symptoms, and their experience with migraines, the more I realize that while we all have different stories, we all have similar issues as well. Her dad also could not get on the ship, which is moored in Long Beach, CA She sensed death, or some such thing, associated with the ship, which in fact is true. She could not even force herself to do it. My wife could not get on that ship, for any amount of money. My wife went to California with her parents on vacation, and they went to visit the Queen Mary. While her mother was pregnant with her, her mother could not get on an elevator, but at any other time in her life, other than that 9 month period, she could, even while pregnant with her other 4 kids. She can force herself to get on one, if I am with her, but she hates it. She cannot go on an elevator, she is scared to death of it. My wife doesn't get migraines, but she is very much psychic, or at least that is the term that people would call the way she senses things before they happen. Īs you all know, pain is only one part of a migraine, and with my very bad migraines, I have emotional feelings of unease, almost as if I knew that something bad was going to happen, like a person who was psychic. I think that by pacing, always in the same direction, and always trying to step in the same places, as closely as possible, I am also stimulating the release of Serotonin, which constricts the blood vessels, and helps relieve some of the symptoms of my migraines. I have considered the pacing, and think that it has something to do with serotonin, in a similar way that for a person with OCD has to continuously wash their hands, over and over, in order to achieve a feeling of balance within themselves. Then, often within 3-5 minutes, I will have chills, to the point that I must grab a blanket, and wrap myself in it, still pacing. I have had this happen in the Emergency Room, and had a nurse that I actually knew, who was amazed, and asked about it, whether or not it was normal. Suddenly, I will be diaphoretic, or sweating profusely. I will be pacing back and forth with a very extreme migraine, always in a counterclockwise direction. I have almost always had fever and chills with migraines.

When I take the time to research migraine and its symptoms I always seem to find something I didn’t suspect. We feel they are just in our heads, but with the quirkiness of migraine, I have found that anything is possible. It’s far too often I think as migraineurs that we experience symptoms we feel are just our own. I had found that my body temperature issues were not just in my head. Needless to say, I was once again relieved to find cases of people suffering from migraine who also were experiencing hypothermia! I immediately felt validated after reading over the cases. This symptom always freaked me out because it was so far from my norm.

I would be bundled up with blankets and retreat to my room. Turning to blanketsĭuring these attacks, I would switch from ice packs to heat. I didn’t have a fever I was just experiencing a cold sensation right to my core. I never thought of hypothermia as a migraine symptom, but I knew several of my attacks came with a sensation of cold.
